The first time this happened, when he'd asked why the Force was connecting them, he didn't mean it as something the Force itself had chosen, but he thought there must be a reason for it happening, nonetheless. There must be a reason, too, for it to continue even in Snoke's absence, if he had told the truth about being the one to start this. Kylo isn't convinced he had been.
